Recent data shows that the number of whales holding Ripple XRP has increased significantly. The same applies to Chainlink’s LINK cryptocurrency. Investors who hold large amounts of a cryptocurrency are called “whales” in the crypto sector.
The number of these large investors has increased significantly for Ripple XRP since the Covid 19 pandemic. According to the data , the number of wallets in which 100,000 to 1 million Ripple XRP are stored has increased from about 14 thousand to over 17 thousand. That’s an increase of almost 20 percent. For wallets containing between 1 million and 10 million Ripple XRP, the increase was less than 2 percent, but it was visible. The large wallets in which more than 10 million Ripple XRP are stored also increased significantly. There were 29 whales added, which means an increase of over 10 percent.
Ripple XRP is the cryptocurrency of the company Ripple Labs. In the last few years, after the peak in 2018, the cryptocurrency has lost much of its value, although Ripple Labs has been able to continuously expand its customer base. Since around 2019, the price of Ripple XRP has been moving sideways.
Why exactly the whales are buying Ripple XRP is of course not known, but it can be assumed that they see a good buying opportunity and potential. A great strength of Ripple XRP is the processing speed and the ability to send payments across borders. The whales may see the chance that Ripple XRP could one day serve as a bridge currency for the (presumably) upcoming state cryptocurrencies. Should that be the case, significant price increases could be expected.
What’s new at Chainlink?
Chainlink’s crypto currency LINK is also showing an improvement in price. In addition, the number of whales there has also increased. They bought over 34 million LINK tokens last year.
Chainlink is designed as a decentralized network. Smart contracts are linked to real-world data via the network. The network’s crypto currency LINK is used to pay for services in the network.
The price of the cryptocurrency reflects the interest in LINK and has risen to almost USD 11 since July 2019 (USD 5). Here, too, the investors apparently see potential, which should lie in the practical usability.
